These doggie biscuits are perfect for giving anytime, however because of their greenish color they are fun to bake and give during the holidays. Buba smells everything before he eats it, so it was funny to watch him look at me and then the "new" green cookie. He took it gently in his mouth and headed under the porch for further sniffing and inspection...about 45 seconds later I heard crunching and shortly after that he lumbered back up the steps to see if I had anymore to give him. Even dogs have their little quirks. If Buba likes em' your dog should love em'!

Alfalfa Hearts

Ingredients
2 cups whole wheat flour
1/2 cup soy flour
1 teaspoon bonemeal, optional
2 tablespoons nutritional yeast (brewer's yeast)
1 tablespoon lecithin, optional
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
3 tablespoons alfalfa sprouts, finely chopped
1 cup brown rice, cooked
3 tablespoons canola oil
1/2 cup water

Combine flours, bone meal, yeast, lecithin, salt, garlic powder and alfalfa leaves. Add rice and oil. Combine well. Add 1/4 cup water and mix well. Dough should be very easy to handle, not crumbly. Add more water if needed to achieve proper consistency.

Lightly flour board or counter and roll out dough to 1/4 inch thickness. Cut with 2 1/2 inch heart-shaped cutter. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. For crunchy cookies, turn off oven, place all the cookies on one tray and put them back in the oven overnight.  Makes 3 dozen. Always store in an air-tight container

Products:
Solid Gold Bonemeal is an excellent source of naturally balanced Calcium (1368 mg) and Phosphorus (684 mg), often used for brood bitches and queens during pregnancy and nursing, and for growing puppies and kittens up to one year old to assist skeletal development. Made from USDA approved bovine bone. Bonemeal is often recommended for older dogs, to fortify the reserves of calcium and phosphorus in their bones, which deplete with age.

Our Brewer's Yeast and Garlic Tablets combine two proven food-derived substances with numerous health-supportive properties to help your pet maintain a stronger immune system and healthier skin and coat - along with the often-reported benefit of greater protection from fleas and ticks.

Here Kitty, Kitty Treats

Love Kitties shirt

Even kitties enjoy an occasional treat...our Carmel sure does. If you have just a tad bit of chicken or even beef you can make these cat treats in a snap. Kept in an air-tight container in the fridge or freezer they'll be ready in a pinch for kitty treat time!

Homemade Kitty Treats

Ingredients:
1/2 heaping cup chicken or beef; pureed (water as needed so the meat mixture is not too dry)
1/2 + 1/8 cup wheat germ
1/2 + 1/8 cup non-fat milk powder
1 egg, beaten

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray cookie sheet with vegetable oil spray. Mix pureed chicken or beef, wheat germ, milk powder, and egg in medium bowl. Fill a zip-lock or storage bag with the mixture, make a small clip outta one of the corners and squeeze 1/2 teaspoon dots onto the prepared baking sheet.

Bake 12 to 15 minutes, making sure to watch that the treats don't burn. Remove from oven and let cool on a wire rack. Store baked treats in airtight containers or plastic bag and place in refrigerator or freezer. Makes 2-1/2 to 3 dozen - plenty to give as gifts to your favorite feline friends too!

**Wheat Germ is recognized as an antioxidant and great natural protein source.
