Even kitties enjoy an occasional treat...our Carmel sure does. If you have just a tad bit of chicken or even beef you can make these cat treats in a snap. Kept in an air-tight container in the fridge or freezer they'll be ready in a pinch for kitty treat time!
Homemade Kitty Treats
Ingredients:
1/2 heaping cup chicken or beef; pureed (water as needed so the meat mixture is not too dry)
1/2 + 1/8 cup wheat germ
1/2 + 1/8 cup non-fat milk powder
1 egg, beaten
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Spray cookie sheet with vegetable oil spray. Mix pureed chicken or beef, wheat germ, milk powder, and egg in medium bowl. Fill a zip-lock or storage bag with the mixture, make a small clip outta one of the corners and squeeze 1/2 teaspoon dots onto the prepared baking sheet.
Bake 12 to 15 minutes, making sure to watch that the treats don't burn. Remove from oven and let cool on a wire rack. Store baked treats in
airtight containers
or plastic bag and place in refrigerator or freezer. Makes 2-1/2 to 3 dozen - plenty to give as gifts to your favorite feline friends too!
**Wheat Germ is recognized as an antioxidant and great natural protein source.
